STILL GOT A LONG WAY TO GO
Quit my job in October at the five and dime
Left my room in the boarder on the west edge of town
Put my thumb down at the crossroads where the Freightliners roll
And I still got a long way to go
I still got a long way to go

Had a dream they’d release me from this put me down
But the girls all wanna take you on the mean side of town
And their eyes give the lie on the sweet talk they throw
And I still got a long way to go
I still got a long way to go

Turning my heel in the face of their crimes
I ran me on down through the last border line
Breaking the chains on the caste I can’t wear anymore
Just a victim of all of….

Those years they put on me with nowhere to grow
Handing down all their reasons that I couldn’t own
I got my bag on my shoulder where the Freightliners roll
And I still got a long way to go
I still got a long way to go
I still got a long, long way to go
